Sri Lanka wildlife photography with pro photographer, safari planner, and travel entrepreneur Riaz Cader — leopard cubs in Yala, a rare leaping striped dolphin off Kalpitiya, a close sloth bear encounter, and a bull elephant caught in Sri Lanka's human-elephant conflict.
Host Toby Jermyn talks with Riaz about his decade-plus career in nature-based tourism and work as a fixer for major documentary productions. Riaz shares the stories behind four key images: leopard cubs photographed in Kumana (Yala East) and how Yala's blocks affect crowding and sightings; a rare striped dolphin leaping high off Kalpitiya and the techniques used to capture it; a close sloth bear encounter and why the species is dangerous and hard to photograph; and a bull elephant breaching an electric fence, highlighting Sri Lanka's human-elephant conflict and risks of electrocution.
They also cover Sri Lanka's wildlife-and-culture travel links, bird diversity, night drives outside parks, and Riaz's admired image by Andy Rouse of a tigress with cubs in India, before Riaz chooses his ideal "humble dwelling."
