Hotel In Room Information
Air Conditioning
Your room has climate-controlled air-conditioning. The remote control is mounted on the wall above the safe. The temperature that the system is set to is visible on the remote and the unit on the wall itself. To turn off the temperature display at night, simply press the screen button on the remote.
Business Centre
We have a printer and scanner at reception, which can be connected via the wifi. Reception will assist. There is no charge for the first five pages. However, if you require a more extensive document printed, we can arrange this with a computer and printing shop nearby, which would be at your own expense.
Church Services
There are several churches of different denominations in Kasane, and they welcome international visitors to their Sunday services. Please ask at reception for more details.
Check out and Departure Info
Check-out time is 11 am. If you have any further transfers (especially air charter), the staff will inform you of your departure time the night before.
Currency Exchange Services
There are several bureaux de change offices in Kasane and at the airport. The ATMs at the banks in Kasane are also a great source of local currency, and the exchange rate is usually favourable from these and certainly quicker.
Doctor/First Aid
If you require a doctor, please contact reception and they will contact the Doctor on call. There is a first aid kit at reception. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions that you feel we should be aware of, please contact the management team at reception.
Electricity
We have an excellent supply of electricity at the Hotel, as we are connected to the national grid. There may be some scheduled downtime or power cuts, though, where the Botswana Power Corporation works on the supply. We do have a generator that will kick in shortly after the power goes off. This can take a minute or two.
Emergency Horn
You will find a wooden box above the safe that contains the emergency horn. In case of fire or any other emergency, please blast the horn with one long blast, and someone will come to your room immediately.
Fire
For your safety, please note the nearest fire exit on the floor plan located on the back of your bedroom door. Guest safety is our number one priority at all times. In the unlikely event of a fire, please exit the building as quickly and safely as you can and meet at the designated assembly points, which are pointed out on the panel behind your door.

Room Cleaning
Your room will be cleaned while you are out on the morning activity. If you are sleeping in or would rather not have your room cleaned, please place the “do not disturb” sign on the door handle outside your room.
Safe
During your stay with us, everything is included, so you will not need to carry cash or credit cards around the property or on activities. For your peace of mind we kindly recommend placing your wallet, passport, and other valuables in the in-room safe, where they can be kept together and secure. This also helps avoid the risk of important items being misplaced or damaged during activities such as being dropped in the water. The safe can accommodate large items up to a 17” laptop. While the safe door is unlocked, you can enter a 4-digit pin and press lock. This will be your PIN during the duration of your stay. The pin can be changed at any time while the safe door is unlocked. For further instructions, please refer to the safe or ask for help at the reception.
If you have larger items for safekeeping, please ask reception to store them in the designated camera room (located next to reception), which is securely locked and monitored by CCTV.
Smoking
The Pangolin Chobe Hotel has a strict non-smoking policy except in the one designated area in front of the building under the tree. Please ask reception for its exact location if it’s not obvious to you.
Swimming Pool
The pool is for guest use only between the hours of 8am-8pm. Towels are available in the pool area or upon request at reception. Please follow the pool safety guidelines found at the pool.
Taxis
Taxis can be booked at reception. They will provide you with an approximate cost estimate for your trip.
Tips and Gratuities
Many of our clients have requested tipping guidelines for the staff. Although tipping is not expected, it is greatly appreciated:
- Your photo host are normally tipped at your discretion, and gratuities are given to them directly.
- Your Game drive or Photo boat Guide/Driver are normally tipped at your discretion, and gratuities can be dropped into the Guides Tip Box next to reception.
- An amount of USD 10 per traveller per day is recommended. This can be split at your discretion between the guides and general staff. If you feel that your photo host, guide or any of the general staff have gone the extra mile, a little extra direct to him or her is approprite.
Towels
Being environmentally aware in an arid area like Botswana, we would like to avoid washing your towels daily. Towels are usually changed every four days.
Turn Down Service
A turndown service will happen while you are out on your afternoon activity. The blinds will be drawn, and the bed made ready for you. If you would prefer that the turndown service not take place, please leave the do-not-disturb sign on the outside of your door.
Water
There are two water coolers located in the bar and the dining room, as well as an infused water jar at reception. The water from the taps is good for brushing teeth and boiling in the kettles at your tea station for drinks.
WiFi
Complimentary Wireless Broadband Access is available throughout the premises. There is no password.
Bandwidth is limited in this region due to its remoteness, so we ask that you resist doing any huge downloads (such as films, tv shows or system updates) as it will slow the speeds down for everyone else. If you desperately need to do a large download, please do so at night when there are fewer guests online.
